I am the Fundraising Manager for the JTSMA and it may be helpful to you to know more about me.

For almost 30 years I worked in retail management at varying levels, and more recently I have moved into the financial service industry. During my career I have built up a high level of expertise in fundraising and capital generation.

I have continued to undertake voluntary work of many different types throughout my career. I was involved in fundraising for my local church for a number of years. I have lobbied Parliament on behalf of Stoke-on-Trent's homeless and recently I have helped as a volunteer on trips with children at JTSMA events.

To me the word community means both local and global, everyone from my next door neighbour to the millions in other countries. I feel that this community is extremely important and it is part of my personal philosophy that we should all help each other through the difficult times in life. We are all individuals, but again, all equally reliant on one another. Throughout my life I have endeavoured to uphold this principle.

In the past when I have worked for profit making organisations I have enjoyed the work and been enthusiastic, but now I come to work for a charitable foundation I find myself being filled with a great sense of satisfaction as I can finally combine my work with my central belief in life. While I cannot imagine what it must be like to live with SMA, I can offer my thoughts, prayers and, more tangibly, my experience and skills as a service.
